My apologies for the sleaze. BUT--I though some of my male readers might appreciate the theme behind this video. And please note below that I have also included a much better song, also from Lady, as well as some really good old-school 80s funk from Klymaxx.
Enjoy!
And now for a much better and more intelligent video from Lady and Big Gates:
Oh, so people are all pissed off that Ben Affleck will be playing Superman. Big deal! What I want to know is--why hasn't Hollyweird gotten their shit together and made a Wonder Woman movie yet? Or updated Supergirl? Or gone totally off the rails and rallied round Dark Horse Comics' gorgeously Goth Lady Death?
These are my super heroes, as far as comic book characters go. I loved Wonder Woman so much as a child that I wanted to be her when I grew up. I didn't know being a super hero wasn't an actual job. But hell, I was six, what did I know?
What say you, dear Readers?
Quick edit: well, damn! Ask and ye shall receive, maybe?
Here on my blog, I celebrate not just being a strong woman, but a woman's beauty as well. I just read an article about a woman named Asha Mandela, a real-life Rapunzel, whose hair has seen her through a lot in her life. You can read the article from Yahoo here.
A lot gets made about a woman's hair. Chaka Khan sang about it on her album, Come to My House. Britney Spears and Sinead O'Connor sheared theirs off at one point, though Sinead had been doing it for years, and when Britney did it, people questioned her sanity. I know a lot of men who prefer their women bobbed, while there are others who prefer length. As a strong woman, I have always worn my own hair in a pixie, until the past five or so years, when I have kept it in one form of a bob or another. I think this woman needs to be honored the best way I know how--with music!
Those of you who have been reading the blog for a bit know
that I am a somewhat voracious reader, and that not all of my reading relates
to Dominance/submission and kink.
Sometimes I just like to read something light but good. In this work, “light” definitely fits the
bill. “Good”—not so much.
Daniel Wallen is a certified personal trainer. On his web site, you will see a picture of
his smiling, non-threatening, irritatingly approachable mug. I’m sure Wallen is a helluva nice guy, which
is probably my personal problem with him.
In the Busy Woman's Guide to Getting Fit, Fierce and Fabulous,
Wallen wants you to get your fierce on.
He wants you to get your fab on. He
wants you to be the best you possible. This
is great—if you’re a high school girl.
Maybe it’s because I’m used to sites such as dragondoor.com,
or maybe it’s because I’m 42, or maybe it’s because, through my dance
background, I had to overcome all sorts of strange body and weight insecurities
I suffered as a teen, but there’s something in Wallen’s tone that doesn’t sit
well with me.
I’ve only been able to get through about half of Wallen’s
book, which I managed to snag (thankfully) for free. I’m glad that it’s free, too. No way in hell am I parting with my
hard-earned dosh for this drivel.
Bottom line—don’t bother, ladies. You’re smarter than Wallen, and I know you’re
smarter than this book. No, Wallen, I
don’t feel like shopping or getting my “learn” on (I believe this is what adults refer to as “education”). I will
not be talked down to, nor will I lift (or work out in) anything that’s
pink. I am not a doll, nor do I aspire
to be one. I’m already fierce, thank you
very much, and kettlebells are my friends.
I think I’ll be hitting up dragondoor.com, and re-reading Neghar
Fonooni’s excellent article, Train Like a Man—Especially If You’re a Woman.
Hey, Wallen—stop talking down to us like you’re a
seventh-grade boy crushing on his best friend’s older sister. I don’t think I’m the kind of fierce you can
handle.
If you’ll excuse me, there’s this deadlift I need to work
on.
I am writing this in response to a post found on a submissive man's blog. Though I am not looking to publicly shame him, as I'm sure someone will over in his comments section, should they so choose to do that, I'm sure to many, either here or there, this may be exactly how it could be read.
The post was in regard to what he, as a submissive man, finds attractive in women. I responded to him personally via his e-mail. He keeps asking why I don't post my comments to his blog.
You want my response? Here goes:
When it comes to what I find physically attractive, because I am a HUMAN, I tend to notice people's eyes first. If I like what I see there (sharp contrast i. e. light eyes/dark skin and vice-versa, intelligence, sparkle, a tendency toward mischief), and if I see fit, I may approach him. What I truly find attractive, though, is his submissiveness, whether he states it outright or I tease it out of him later. I did mention the intelligence, didn't I? Submissive men, in my experience, are more likely to congregate in quiet settings, such as libraries, art galleries, small coffee shops, book shops, and intimate restaurants, rather than run-of-the-mill bars or dance clubs. They tend to move slowly, speak with intelligence and wit, and take great pains to make sure I (or, sometimes, She, if he's with someone) is comfortable. I think Max Headroom may have quipped it best, as one point, back in the mire of the 80s: "I get my kicks above the waistline, Sunshine."
PLEASE COMPREHEND AS BEST YOU CAN. PLEASE WRAP YOUR WEE SUB-MIND AROUND THIS. IF A MAN IS TRULY SUBMISSIVE, THEN HIS SUBMISSION WILL ALWAYS BE WHAT I FIND MOST ATTRACTIVE.
D'oh! Now I'll have to post a comment, just to get this out of my system.
For your entertainment, however, please find attached two (two!) videos for your viewing pleasure--though I wish music video directors would stick with a small portion of reality in regard to truly office-appropriate attire. You're welcome!
That last line Nicki spits in that video from my last post--"Couldn't get a fan if you was hangin' from the ceilin'." So funny!
I don't care what people say about Nicki. I think she's hilarious.
You know else I like--Li'l Kim.
Yeah, that's right, I love Li'l Kim. Oh, I'm sorry, DID YOU NOT HEAR ME? I LOVE AND ADMIRE LI'L KIM, THE RAPPER WHO MAKES WHITE PEOPLE NERVOUS AND WHO DISGUSTS THE AVERAGE MAN WITH HER BLATANTLY COMFORTABLE SEXUALITY AND CONFIDENCE.
Now I know you heard that.
And yes, I realize this isn't just a music blog. However--if you want to get to know me, there are certain things that one may need to accept, such as my all-over-the-place musical taste. I was going to post a video here, but can't find the one I like. Oh well, guess you'll just have to wait.
Hey all, I have returned for now (for NOW) simply to say that YES, I AM ALIVE! Oooooooooo and I bet somewhere there's a submissive quaking in his socks, whining, "She's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! She's baaaaaaaaaaaack!" and ready to piss himself (uh-uh--you take that mess outside, dog!).
So here's where I've been and what's been up.
After spending a lot of time knitting with nearly nothing but all-natural fibers and attempting (rather lamely) to spin, I've sort of gone on a natural kick. Except this is more than just a kick. I'm thinking this may be yet another lifestyle change, but for the good. Of EVERYONE. I've been trying to stay away from stuff with chemicals, and I've been trying to take walks, lift slightly heavier than usual (hard to do when you've somehow thrown your back out carrying computers), and generally relaxing a lot more than usual.
This has also gotten me thinking in regard to what I may be seeking in a submissive man, should one ever bother to look up from his pathetic wank-fest and stop fantasizing about what I could do with (or, more to the point, WITHOUT) his dick. But I'm going to save that for a later post. After all, I am still a woman. I'm not giving it all away that easily. In the meantime, please enjoy this wee video from Nicki Minaj and Ciara, in regard to how I'm feeling just now.
Yes, I more than realize it has been well over a year. What--you never questioned your own pathetic existence and why you do what you do? No? Oddly, I'm still in a slight state of limbo over mine. So, with that, please allow me just a few more days to sit still and think a bit more. Please accept my sincerest apologies, and I'm glad to see I apparently still have followers and readers. Thanks!
I haven't been feeling well, but I will be back as soon as I can to review a book entitled Fifty Shades of Grey. It sounds somewhat promising, but I want to give it a good, thorough going-over before I say anything for or against it.
This is just a thought with a couple of personal observations thrown in.
Ever notice how no one ever gets upset when funk music is playing? Well, ok, the average person doesn't. Conservative right-wingers do, but they don't count, because they're not really people.
George Clinton of Parliament Funkadelic was a hippie, and other hippies hung out with him, and George didn't care what color or religion or creed or gender or whatever you were, so long as you were a good musician who dug his groove and who didn't hassle him.
I have never been angry when funk was playing. In fact, to me, funk is like dope, only without the munchies and the illegal shit waiting to happen. So how 'bout it, dear Readers? What do you think is the ultimate music for peace?
I am a knitter. I am a proud knitter who is a member of Ravelry, and one of the Rav boards I read quite frequently is one called Lazy, Stupid & Godless (we're none of these, btw--can you say IRONY, INDEED dear Readers? ::pats you on the head:: I knew you could!).
I just have to get this off my chest, and I will not be using internet acronyms for a great deal of this post. If you have trouble understanding big words as they are written by adults, then mayhaps you ought not read the rest of this post. In fact, if you have trouble with big words, you shouldn't be reading this blog you fucking moron.
So. . . here's what a dear and intelligent and open-minded reader posted over on our delightful board:
Did you make it all the way through? Good for you! I did, too, and here's why. First, let me just say it took me a few times to catch the gist of the whole thing, because the first time through, when I saw Michelle Bachman-Turner Overbite, followed by Prick Perry, I zoned out. I always do this when conservatives open their stupid fucking mouths. Where are the ball gags for these people? I mean really! Then I had to rush to the bathroom when (M)Anne Coulter got on there. Ever notice how her Adam's Apple bobs up and down when (s)he speaks? Oh, (M)Anney, I think there's something you're not telling the rest of the world!
Here's what I have trouble getting my head around: for a bunch of people who think sex is wrong, that sex education should be kept out of schools, and that liberals like me ought to be strung up publicly by her twat, they sure do seem focused on sex! Oh, don't get me wrong, they're also focused on sending minorities "back from whence they came" even if they were born in this country and they see their own offspring as pets rather than people, but I'm digressing and getting off-topic. They also seem focused on a threat that's. . . not a threat.
Someone also posted a 0:45-second response, which was so garbled I couldn't understand it, except that she kept repeating, "It's her life, it's her body." The rest of it sounded like mousefarts coming out of her mouth.
What's even more frightening--many many people in this country take this shit seriously. They actually see homosexuality as a disease. They actually think they're going to get into some sort of Heaven (wherever that is) and that their God (whoever he is) is going to save their sorry asses, and that they are right. Even though they are being terribly unChristian, hideously God-like in their judgment, and are spreadinga message of poisonous hate that would make Jesus blush and later say, "I don't know those people. They are NOT associated with me." Wait--didn't the US go after terrorists in the Middle East? Weren't they spreading hatred too? Where's the fucking legislation that stops this shit, people? Tim McVey was a home-grown terrorist. Where are the laws that stop people who torture and kill homosexuals for just living their lives? Why is it that this shit still isn't really considered a hate crime and conservative right-wingers aren't considered the most dangerous terrorists of fucking all?
If they're doing this shit to vanilla gays, bis, transgendered, lesbians, and others, imagine what a field day they'd have with us. . .
I look forward to any nasty, hideous, I-totally-agree-with-these people responses. Please look forward to my responses as well, and if it turns into harassment, I'll see your ass in court.
As soon as I thought of blogging this AM, the first words that popped into my head were these:
Yes, Romeo Must Die IS an awesome flick, and you might want to see it sometime.
I finally finished TammyJo Eckhart and Fox's At Her Feet. Oh. . . My. . . Goddess. . .
What a wonderful read! Chock-full-a good information for the novice, and I think it's GREAT that Tammy Jo has a Doctoral degree and has studied all the various forms of slavery--both historical and within the BDSM community--in-depth. I was struggling with the offer of slavery, and my potential slave was worried about this too. I'll write him later to ease his fears. He has been afraid and I have caused him a great deal of sorrow and depression over this. jay, I'm publicly apologizing. Right here, right now. I AM SORRY.
I have also been considering some other things, things which don't necessarily have to do with the Lifestyle, but which may later have some bearing upon it.
I've always been interested in physical fitness, and I take great pains to keep myself in shape. So. . . . I'm considering becoming a Russian Kettlebell Certified instructor. This means lots of readings by Pavel Tsatsouline, Russian Kettlebell master Extraordinaire, and lots and LOTS of hanging leg raises. Swings and snatches, too! I'll keep you posted!
It's been a long time. . . . shouldn'a' left you. . . . wid'out a dope beat t'step to. . . .
OK, ok, I got curious about Elise Sutton. I downloaded her Female Domination last year around this time, and couldn't quite muster through it. Typographical errors are quite a distraction. So, dear readers, I'm curious. Opinions? Good? Bad? Ugly? Anyone read In Search of Wanda yet? Suggestions? Please advise at y'all's earliest convenience. I'll even put the e-mail link back up. BUT--on one condition--NO STALKERS. You wanna stalk something? Go find some celery. I have books to review. Thanks!
This is what I am currently reading, and I rather like it. It's a different approach, written by a woman. I find it highly readable and far different from the hate-fueled literature of Elise Sutton and others who feel the only way is their way. I'll keep you posted.
I found the following author through one of the strangest Amazon searches I could ever imagine. I went there looking for a book of Fair Isle glove and mitten patterns. I was also directed to--erotica from a woman named Louisa Burton, who writes a series known as The Hidden Grotto. If I can find out what Fair Isle (or, more specifically, fingerless) gloves have to do with BDSM and Victorian-era erotica, y'all will be the first to know. Right now, I only have samples, but I'll let you know what I think.
Oh, heavens, the stuff I see in videos. Ok, ok, let me back up a sec.
I was checking my mail on Yahoo--apparently, none of my friends actually like me--no shock there, and no mail, either.
While there, I saw a video that, had I finished watching it, would have had me bawling like a baby and I'd have to call off work for the rest of my life. The video was about a group called ARME that does animal rescue, and they have a special project, Project Beagle, in which they just rescued about 10 beagles from a science research facility in. . . Spain, was it? Anyway--the video showed them getting the dogs into a van, in which they were secured so they could go--to a local park and run around a little. These dogs had been in cages their entire lives. As in--born in a cage, taken from their caged mother, put in another cage, used for experiments. They had never been outside. . . . ever. My heavens, I'm getting weepy just writing this. OK. So. . . . it was touching and sad and I wanted to unleash a victory howl to beagles everywhere.
So this got me curious about the Anti-Vivisection League, which I believe I'll be donating to and joining. AAVS eventually got me over to Beaute Mineral cosmetics, which I'll try after Christmas. That, in turn, led me to Girls, Inc. While perusing their site, I have found that there is no Girls, Inc., in my area. I'm female. My mom, my nieces, my aunts, and a majority of my friends are. . . . female. I think we need a Girls, Inc. in my area. I think it'll be a little different around here.
I got a delightful comment in regard to me kvetching in regard to my hair, and this of course made me think of a lot of things--Megadeth's Sweating Bullets, Betty Wright's Real Woman (hey! What's this I hear about a MOVIE? A MOVIE? About BETTY WRIGHT? Oooooooooo, shoot, I'd much rather watch that than all this chick-flick bullshit and those stupid Twilight flicks!), Toni Braxton's He Wasn't Man Enough for Me, and a little side project that I've had going on in my head, that I really need to commit to paper SOON before I forget about it. Damn! Ever wish there were 48 hours to each day, like Chaka Khan suggested in Tell Me Something Good? I know I do!
OK, OK, so here's the gist of this post. After my little kvetch session, I got a delightful comment from someone going by Friz. So, hello Friz, and thanks for reading and your delightful comment! I think I need to change up the hair. The bob--has been delightful fun, and it really has added an air of authority to an already-authoritative demeanor. However--the trims are maddening, this shit's gettin' thick and knotted, and I need to wear something that doesn't get caught in my glasses. IF I get this done anytime soon, I'll post pictures.
This also made me think--a lot of women hold onto the hair--the length, the color, the wave, the bounce, and all that delightful bullshit. But this is what gets me--a lot of these women, in my opinion, would look a helluva lot better--if they would just cut it off. Or at least cut it back, or wear it up, so you can see what a beautiful face she has. A lot of people say it's down to confidence. In my opinion, if you are a woman who works her own job, makes her own money, and digs her own vibe, why wouldn't you want the world to see you in all your fabulous glory? Does a woman's hair make her more feminine? Maybe, if that's her personal style and her personal vibe. What makes me feel more feminine and confident? My mind. The way I walk into a room and everyone turns to look. The way I can answer a question and quietly command attention, without even speaking. But I'd rather look someone in the eye straight on, rather than through my damn bangs.
Enjoy the musical interlude, Readers, while I make a decision. I'll post pictures.
For some reason, I have Rob Zombie's Dragula stuck in my head (no, this isn't a bad thing). I have always thought that if there are cheerleaders in Hell (and oh am I ever sure there are, and YES I am their Squad Leader!) that this would be the song they would do their dance routines to. And then, whilst perusing YouTube, I found this
